Rooms are large and living room id quite spacious. I LOVED staying here, the service was 5 star, I stayed for 4 weeks in the apartment for work and the location was brilliant, the place was very clean, highly recommend staying here for short or long term Absolutely a great place to stay.
Has everything you want and Vivian goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable. Close to everything. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thank you for making our holiday special. This must be one of the nicest apartments that I have ever stayed in, anywhere!
They are clean, airy and spacious and very close to the local amenities. The owners and staff are very approachable and take pride in their property, this is my go to place if I am on business, or otherwise, if I am in the Brisbane area.
Well deserving of the 5 stars! Cheers Viv and Craig. Culture of ignorance and violence. Exactly my point!! I didn't need clarification what Hellmouth meant but the past tense reference. That report was 5 years ago, prior to me living in Wynnum. I am sure I can conjure up negative press about your beloved Kedron over the past 5 - 10 years. In the 3 years I have lived here I have experienced nothing of the kind. We rarely even lock our house.
If in fact you did experience what you said I am very sorry for your terrifying ordeal but it is not a reflection on the whole area or the people that live in it Wynnum recently made it into the Australian Property Investors Hot Suburbs and one of the main reasons was "changing demographic". Bulimba 10 years ago had a perception of being a violent suburb and now it is one of the premiere suburbs in Brisbane. I apologise if I offended you, but I love where I live and think it is a fabulous place to raise a family.
Wynnum has had a checkered history but I want people to know violence is a thing of the past. I used a past tense because I don't refer to it at all anymore. Because I'm fortunate enough not to live there.
The violence and youth crime is still going on. I am almost certain by the description that the girl involved in this crime tried to mug me on two occasions.
This happens a lot more than is reported. For some reason in Wynnum people just don't report crime to the police. Unless the police were just lazy and were lying to me. On the 14th of February, , a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Wynnum West by four teenage boys. A police officer was assaulted at Wynnum Central Station in Of course this was the only case of street violence where an arrest was bothered with A doctor was arrested in for sexually assaulting 4 patients. There have been several dog attacks within the last 4 years by dogs not being restrained.
The list goes on. There is a gang of young people that just go around assaulting and robbing people - and no one seems to care. Which is why I will never so much as visit the area again. It's too dangerous if you don't have a car. Kedron could never compare. No other area I have lived can compare to the violence and ignorance of Wynnum - and at one point I lived close to Ipswich.
Even when I told Wynnum friends about attempted assaults and vicious roaming dogs - they just acted like that was normal and I was just complaining. No other area that I've lived in have people been so accepting of gang violence. You haven't offended me. I just assume you drive everywhere and haven't walked the streets of Wynnum. Especially around the train stations. I walked everywhere - I started walking 40 minutes to and from work because taking the train took longer - and kids tried to mug me at the stations at night.
After 12 hour days a 40 minute walk was the last thing I wanted to do - but the transport was so bad that even working around two suburbs over was a hassle to get to. My wife and I regularly catch the train into the city and walk to and from the station at nighy without ever being approached. Wynnum, like any suburb, probably has better and worse areas to be late at night. I still maintain my position that it's a great area. I find it hard to believe that they can continually sweep violence under the rug, particularly based on your suggested frequency and severity.
But we are going to have to agree to disagree as we both have had experiences in Wynnum which are polars apart! I hope you enjoy Kedron as much as we enjoy Wynnum.
As long as one is happy with their life nothing else matters, whether that's ignorance or fact! Schools-that is what really worry me.
I agree that Cleveland train line is not the worst. Just check Shorncliffe or Beenligh -trains once in 30 min. Various options to travel from Wynnum by car. Markets and festivals. Bayside lifestyle. Manly yacht club and cafes. What will be locals comments or explanation about consistency in low local school results?
I didn't think the purpose of 'my school' was to compare schools against each other:-? What I am talking about is a changing demographics. Many of our friends including us have no kids or very young children. Schooling is a legacy issue that will take time to change.
Additionally, Wynnum is well supported by respected private schools Moreton Bay, Iona and I would suggest their results would be considerably higher. Both my friends and my wife and I walked home at 10pm after dinner in opposite directions both love 1.
Wow ScarletEllis, our time living in Wynnum didn't seem to be a very happy experience. I grew up in Wynnum, left for a number of years and came back to the area. I love this place. It will only get better when the cinema is built and more cafes and restaurants come to the area. I suspect that a lot of these reviews are written by people trying to sell their houses, I was extremely disappointed when I went to Wynnum.
The public transport is not good at all, try and get to the city and set your stop watch, it will take forever. The traffic in peak hour is extremely bad getting in and out of the area. No where near the choice of shopping, dining or entertaining as other suburbs boasting a big price tag and the neighbourly spirit is nothing special at all, people walking around with their heads down and as I passed a few people and smilled and said "hello" I got a nod, a slight smirk and total ignorance.
A lot of yuppy couples around and the housing was drab, overpriced and the so called water front and water view properties are not what I would call true waterfronts at all.
Do your homework, drive in peak hour to where you need to go, check out the local schools, check out the recent sold prices as well as sold prices in , and , then add up all the reasons you want to move to the suburb. There are a number of more affordable suburbs around, I wont name them here as this review may then appear bias, unless money is no object and you can afford to live opposite the water, then you need to ask yourself what you are getting for your money that is so great about this suburb?
Each to their own, but I spent a good deal of time here and really talked to the people and checked out the whole area, did the peak hour drive, tried the local eat outs, tried to find all the activities on offer, most were at Manly and that place is over priced even more. Make sure you check out all the facts before you buy and jump in here, good if your born a local and all your friends and family live here as money can't compare to family and friends, but if your coming into the area away from family and friends, ask yourself why?
You didn't do your research very well Takes 10 minutes, if that. Takes me a 20 minute 30 minutes at worst easy commute there and back at peak hour. Again, don't go straight down Wynum Road. Last time I checked Moreton Bay had lots of water, and personally love the view of the bay, bay islands and sail boats. I'm not a real estate agent, I'm not a longtime local only lived here 2 years , I don't have family here and I have no intention of selling my house.
Yes, central Wynnum needs a facelift and is slowly , and isn't the best place to eat out unless you like fish and chips but it is great family area, great lifestyle nothing like an afternon walk along the water, or being 2 minutes from a boat ramp , and has some exciting projects in the works ie recently aquired Wynnum Central state school site , good public transport, good broadband coverage.
Unpolished Gem! I think Wynnum has an exciting future and I love living here. Yes it's all rubbish I can't imagine why no one in the street would talk to her! Everyone knows there are no beaches on the mainland north of the gold coast spit or south of caloundra.
I don't see what this has to do with wynnum. It is really hard to make sense of this person. You probably didn't stay long enough to get an idea of what the area is like. I don't live there now but did for several years.
I disagree with the comment about the lack of community activities. The Spring Festival has been running now for over 50 years. My daughter was a "Spring Princess" one year.
There is a Christmas Carols on the waterfront. A musical theatre society that puts on performances that are equal to anything that you would see at QPac and plays by 2 theatre companies. Plus the Halloween Festival. The trains take you to Southbank, the City and the Valley, even the Ekka when it is on.
I have an ongoing medical condition and never had any problems getting to see a private doctor or being seen quickly at the hospital. This person sounds like they havent done there homework or cant read a map , If you drive the long way in peak hour traffic it will ' suprise suprise " take a long time. Getting to the airport or the port of brisbane very quick and from were live 2 sets of traffic lights woosh there. And being a salior Its just the best place to sail, but the second hand shops are very thick on the ground but I believe this to be on the mend , The cbd of wynnum does need a face lift granted but I also beileve this to be in the pipe line also.
But good schools , plenty breakfast spots over looking the bay , potential plus here and very nice place to bring up children :. I agree with you. I lived there for a couple of years. I think the people boasting about it are either trying to sell their house, a real estate agent, or they are just the kind of person that is so deluded they get the postcode tattooed to their body. Quality over quantity is evident with only a few tapas bars on offer in the area.
Let the kids splash and slide when this pool fills with seawater at high tide. This is a summer playground dream with a slide in the middle of the pool and adjoining playground.
A mixture of sea breezes, seaside views and fishing lines will accompany you along the waterfront. Just try not to eat it all before you get home.
