Can you join the darkwraith without the lordvessel

Sure, he tells you the truth about Gywn and the linking of the fire, but I feel he's not sharing the whole story. What is his stake in all this, why does Kaathe care whether it's an age of fire or an age of dark? And what do you do with Lifedrain? You gather Humanity of course, and you offer it to Kaathe to level up in his covenant.

So Kaathe is supposedly interested in an age of dark, ok fine but why does he accept Humanity from you? Does he use it somehow? Could it be that Kaathe simply covets Humanity and that sole reason is why he taught Lifedrain to the Four Kings in the first place? I mean he doesn't seem to regret that his actions caused the disastrous ruin and subsequent flooding of New Londo and it's citizenry.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to usher in an age of dark because it means more dark servants to offer him Humanity. The way I always saw it, fire and souls are the physical manifestation of ideals and the will to power, whereas darkness symbolizes realism, banality, and nihilism.

Gwyn's ideals drove him to challenge the archdragons, but after they had been wiped out, the word started to return to that nihilistic darkness, starting with the Four Kings of New Londo. So, he placed a curse on mankind, deceiving them into carrying on his dream by linking the fire, placing the world in a perpetual state of conflict. By letting the fire fade, honor and fame are sacrificed as the world enters a tranquil rest. What choice you make, of course, is entirey dependent on your morals, but personally, I much prefer the Dark Lord ending.

I'd prefer a world without fear, without worrying how to survive day to day. It sounds nice, even if Kaathe is shady asf. Ask the people of Oolacie what they think about the Dark.

I imagine they'll give you a different answer than Kaathe. On one hand you sustain a mirage created by Gwyn and sustained by his faithful, on the other hand you let the age of dark begin. Darkness is the natural order of this universe, the initial cutscene even paints light as the disrupting force that drives the destruction of the ancient dragons. Sign In Help Sign Out. Since most players will instinctively speak to Frampt once they find the gigantic snake in Firelink Shrine, it stands to reason that most will just place the Lordvessel without thinking. To even have the chance of entering the Darkwraith Covenant, players either need to avoid Frampt entirely or try to join the Covenant before the midpoint which is a challenge in and of itself. To guarantee your entry into the Darkwraith Covenant, avoid Frampt at all costs.

To drop into The Abyss without instantly dying, players first need to kill Sif so they can unlock the Covenant of Artorias. A wolf wielding a greatsword in its mouth, Sif is actually a fairly simple battle.

All her telegraphs can be easily read and she actually starts limping once in critical health, actually making the fight easier closer to death. When equipped, the Covenant of Artorias allows players to land in The Abyss without taking damage or dying. Ask A Question. Browse More Questions. Keep me logged in on this device. Can I join the Darkwraith covenant through bonfire still, after placing the lordvessel with Frampt? I expect I won't be able to level the covenant anymore, but that's fine.
