Winners step up and ask, "How can I add value and excitement to the game? And they bring their A-game. Some people foolishly think the world is filled with mind readers. If people don't know what you are trying to achieve, they can't easily help you accomplish your objectives.

And there are few contests worth winning that can be won alone. Winners know there is no harm in asking for the things you want or that would help you get ahead. Just don't be rude, demanding, pushy, or nagging. If you articulate your needs and desires, simply and politely, the universe has a way of providing the right help at the right time. Some things in life are beyond control: the weather, the market, the price of bananas.

Winners know when it is useless to try and apply effort or influence beyond their actual capability. They may test and push those limits, but when faced with a near impossible task, they will conserve effort and move on.

Winners focus their energy on the people and places where they can effect the most change and growth in positive ways. A winner knows his or her gifts and how to take advantage of them. Winners also have an ability to see the strengths and contributions of others around them. Winners know a shared win has greater glory than a solo effort.

They inspire and recruit other talented people to participate and share the fun and accolades of a major win. They make sure that everyone who participates feels accomplishment and appreciation for their efforts. As a former Marine and veteran of the war in Iraq, I can totally relate to this.

To add to this awesome list, you must be able to thrive in adversity, and always know your outcome. You define your world, not the other way around. In Iraq, our first objective, no matter where we were was to take control of the situation, and many times that meant giving others the perception of control.

Donald, You have compiled a wonderful practical list of what makes a successful winner. You have also managed to cover most angles from mental preparation right through to humble attitude upon achieving success.

But the part which struck a chord with me, among a few others is the ability to be adaptable. I had to struggle the hardest with this particular point. It is a lovely post. A person can become successful only when behaves like one. Its a voice that drives you form within and no one else can control that but you. The biggest roadblock in your journey to become a winner is you, your fears, your self-doubts, they make you weak and give up on things.

You have be confident about yourself and your ability and only then can you truly be a winner. It is easier to act your way into a new way of feeling then to feel your way into a new way of acting. Be comfortable being uncomfortable Like it or not, growing in life often means moving out of your comfort zone.

Prepare for contingencies Winners prepare themselves for bad situations. Be a team player Winners know that they work best by being in a solid team, so they become good team players. Stack the odds in your favor Though they work hard to improve their skills, winners know that luck still plays a role.

Desk and office are well organized for productive work. Winners spend a lot of time with other winners, by networking with them, joining their clubs, and socializing with them. They make winning connections by volunteering and really getting involved, even when they have to get their hands dirty for worthy causes that attract other winners.
