Social TV rewards platform Viggle has launched a new in-app experience in honor of the football season.
We spoke with Viggle President Chris Stephenson about the launch. TV-focused sports apps continue to emerge each week. We wrote about five of them in July and there are already many more on the market. Fantasy football is obviously a big part of the social TV football experience and Viggle is trying to innovate the space with the launch of MyGuy. MyGuy is built completely in HTML 5, making it compatible with the vast majority of web browsers, but it is also available for tablets, iPads and Android devices as a standalone app.
MyGuy also encourages participation and activity through its concept of changing players on the fly. Other people are scoring, passing, intercepting and getting points. Much like Viggle, MyGuy will offer players the opportunities to win real-life prizes, including some impressive sports-related experiences down the road. And others still like the laptop open as they prop their feet up.
Yes, our homes are more connected than ever and some apps are trying to make our relaxation time a little more rewarding. The best one in my opinion is Viggle. There are a ton of TV companion apps out there.
Some let you take quizzes during shows. Some give you fake stickers that you can never really use. Some let you chat with others about the show. And some do all of the above.
What does Viggle do? Some shows that are featured in the app give you check-in bonuses and others have live quizzes where you can earn additional points. The points that you earn gets you real life stuff. Not silly stickers or badges or digital trophies that mean absolutely nothing. Real stuff just for watching TV. Is there a better companion app for the TV room in your home?
I think not. Viggle is free to download in both the iTunes and Android app stores. Click here to visit Viggle. Mets Lifer. TV Aficionado. Built on the recently announced Viggle developer platform, MyGuy is a proof of concept of the HTML5 application platform that Viggle is offering networks, producers and brand partners.
Since its launch seven months ago, more than one million users have registered for the Viggle app. About Viggle SM Viggle is a loyalty program for television that gives people real rewards for checking into the television shows they are watching.
Viggle users can redeem their points in the app's rewards catalogue for items such as movie tickets, music, gift cards or they can convert them into charitable donations.
