And, the lackluster math scores are part of the reason McLean has dropped in national rankings. They got rid of the Assistant Superintendent of Academics and academics are central to the success of a school and instead created a Chief Equity officer role.
Equity considerations are now more important than academics. The success of our schools is directly tied to the economic success of Fairfax County. Even if you do not have children or your children have grown you should be seriously concerned with the health of our public school system.
If it dies — so does the value of your home, the county, and society. The steep decline in national rankings for McLean is a warning to all Fairfax County residents that our school board and administrators are failing us all.
